Can anyone help me prove the mathematical approach by extending sign bit does not change the value 2's complement numeric number? THX in advanced
I can not understand exactly your question. If you change the sign bit of 0×7FFF becomes 0xFFFF. Hence the numerical value has changed -1-32767 (assuming short int, 2-byte) Is this what you ask? If so, No! to amend add value to 2: The 2's complement is used only for computers to store data. If the size of an int is 4 bytes. The first bit is used as sign bit.
