Garden plants?
My son lives in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. His birthday is next month and has asked me to take him to a garden center local plants and acquire some shares of your garden irregular. The garden is east (so sunny but not hot), do not know what that has the soil (acid, alkaline, limestone, etc.) and need to find easy, low maintenance plants for him, but also something with a little color. I'm compiling A list of RHS huge book, but can someone help me make the list a little more? Also, if I can get from a garden center, which is a good website to? Thank you very much at all hard to answer this question. I lasted 4 days. They have made a long list, and also tried to e-mail all the answers. I am very grateful. Bless you all. Barry.
My gardening tips are to create an easily maintained garden with seasonal interest, not just a touch summer. The plants used are: Phormiums – come in varying colors of leaves, varied, green, red to purple. Grows from 2 'to 5' with spikes large blooms and once established in a sunny and well. The lance-shaped leaves. Buddleia – Butterfly bush – showy flowers, butterflies attracted from around June. They just need hard pruning, around February, and then let them riot. There is also a varied form, with purple flowers, otherwise colors white flowers, pink to purple. Lavender: there are a lot of different types: Hidcote 18''de is about height, beautiful dark blue flowers. Old English 'lavender' blue flowers, about 2.3 'tall. French: they have to color 'ontop wings "of their flowers. All those are the best, with a fairly hard spring pruning, leaves them getting leggy. Heuchera: good for the semi shade, fantastic choice of colors and textures of leaves, in addition to flowers too. Sedum spectabile is 1 of the easiest plants to grow: roots very easily, if you take cuttings next year onwards. Attracts butterflies. I would add some herbs, for the variation in leaf texture. Festuca Glauca Blue is a very short grass. Otherwise, there are tons color from red to green variegated / white or gold. A peony flower in the same place for 50 years +, so is easy and appealing. Some Lily come with fragrant flowers. They are herbaceous plants that bloom in summer beautiful, yellow, red, etc (Hemerocalis is the botanical name) are herbaceous plants Phlox paniculata summer flowering, white and pink. Very easy. Foxgloves are easy, but production rates typically grow from seed one year, bloom and die next. Good partial shade, especially for the back of borders, as they can reach 6 "tall. Maybe you could start some seeds yourself, and then or take them to him? Roses may be right, right or independent climbers. Require annual pruning. Hardy Geraniums Good color long season. They are easy to plant gorgeous, with long flowering periods – not to be confused with the geraniums of summer bedding, which are not resistant and therefore not perennial in gardens in the UK. I love Oriental Poppies, Papaver orientalis – mine are about to bloom now. Orange white to pinkish red. Many, with contrasting colors in the center of the flower. Herbaceous. Gaillardia have a wide range of colors, for periods of summer flowers. Hellebores Add a little to late winter, spring color: Heeleborus Niger (Christmas 'Rose'), flowers white or Helleborus orientalis – late spring, Whtie, pink, red. Lupins herbaceous, but usually lead sheets throughout the year. Views are also flowering herbaceous plants in a wide range of colors. Easy. I would add some bulbs for the next Spring flowering: usually purchased / planted around August. Daffodills / Narciso, bells, siberica Scilla, Crocus, large-flowered tulips and types of species, Spring Flower easly. Kind, but can be prone to putrefaction, and he is not sure of your soil type, you might want to avoid. Best planted in late autumn, although until December. Ref Order: What was shop around, as you will find variations in prices. It is also a good idea to select the plants you same, as you can choose the healthiest – I know it is in some way, but maybe you could find some nurseries that are in your path, or local he. I hope these ideas help. I have chosen as they grow and are known to be reasonably easy but showy plants. Good luck! Rob
