The London musical blockbuster new musical evil has become the top, with record attendance numbers and sales of entries. Wicked set a new record Box Office during the progress of the Apollo Victoria Theater and has continued to create new since then. Last week (ending 28 October 2006), Wicked grossed over three quarters of a million pounds (£ 761,125) at the box office, more than any other show of West End are currently running, and the highest yield of 8 weekly Box Office in West End theater history. More than 18,000 people attended the show. Since its first performance in public on 7 September 2006, wicked musical has been seen by over 130,000 people, an average of just over 95% in its 2304-based care of the theater. Since opening night (27 September 2006), the weekly Box Office gross has been higher than any other show of the West End. For the month of October (4 weeks) WICKED has grossed nearly £ 2.5 million. Based on the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz and how it came to be called "good" and "bad". Wicked stars Idina Menzel as Elphaba, Helen Dallimore as Glinda, Adam Garcia as Fiyero, Miriam Margolyes as Madame Morrible, Nigel Planer as The Wizard, Martin Ball as Doctor Dillamond, James Gillan as Boq and Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose. Since January 2007, the role of Elphaba will be played by Kerry Ellis.
The bad hit musical at the Apollo Theater in London, Victoria has dominated the Whatsonstage.com awards Theatregoers'Choice 2007, winner of 4 awards: Best New Musical, Best Set Design (Eugene Lee), Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (Miriam Margolyes) and Best Actress in a Musical (Idina Menzel) More than 12,000 audience members theatregoing cast their votes in line with the musical wicked win all proposed categories. The music from an average of over 51% of the total votes cast for nominees in their category and also won more awards than any other production.

"Wicked" has been playing time for the first (and second-) string stars to have moved, but not enough for the public to have forgotten them. The current stars, Megan Hilty and Shoshana Bean, seem tentative onstage, devoid of idiosyncrasy. Ms. Hilty adds a bit of charm to the perfect Glinda Goofy, but can not seem to locate to the jokes in her lines or find the lift in the happy song "Popular". Ms. Bean, who has a precise and impressive singing voice is more credible as a pariah by Idina Menzel, but her characterization is generic, it can also be said of David Ayers, who plays the love interest of both witches, Fiyero. Rue McClanahan maaahvelous is doing things with vowel sounds as Madam Morrible, Ben Vereen makes a convincingly broken-down Wizard. Review (Read Ben Brantley of original Broadway cast.)
